Political economy analysis of the forestry sector in Central Africa

This political economy analysis focuses on the industrial and artisanal timber sectors in Central Africa and is undertaken by TPP Principal Oliver Owen and consultant Theodore Trefon, as well as a local team.

The study looks at the forest sector from the perspective of the energy sectors (notably for fuel wood and charcoal), wildlife management strategies, food security and agricultural dynamics, green economy opportunities, and climate change.

Fieldwork is taking place in Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Congo in May 2024.
