Thinking and Working Politically Facility for British High Commission, Pakistan
Led by TPP Principal Ben French and in collaboration with Tabadlab, this project supports the British High Commission (BHC) in Pakistan to embed politically informed, adaptive approaches across policy influencing and development programming. The work helps BHC teams move beyond technical solutions by systematically integrating political economy analysis and Thinking and Working Politically principles into strategy, programme design and delivery.
TPP is working closely with BHC goal teams on economic growth, climate and nature, and human capital, providing hands-on analytical support, facilitation and coaching. This includes clarifying feasible change pathways, strengthening theories of change, and aligning programmes and influencing strategies with Pakistan’s complex federal and provincial political dynamics, particularly in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh.
At portfolio level, the project supports senior management to improve coherence, prioritisation and impact across the UK’s development offer. A strong learning component will capture lessons on how politically informed approaches can be applied in practice, informing future portfolio management and longer-term monitoring, evaluation and learning.
The project is delivered for the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office through the Westminster Foundation for Democracy Politics and Governance Centre of Expertise.
