Support to the DFID funded ENERGIA research network on energy and gender
Andrew Barnett has been contracted to be a member of the Technical Advisory Group of this five-year research programme on energy and gender. The TAG provides advice to the managing organization about the quality, feasibility and context of research across five themes, including the political economy of subsidy reform, and energy access in Odisha, India.
Multi-Donor Governance Analysis - Bangladesh
The Policy Practice and BRAC Development Institute undertook a multi-donor governance assessment of Bangladesh. The assignment included the development of an assessment and indicator framework, and initial analysis of the state of governance and governance programming in Bangladesh.
DFID Governance Portfolio Review
The Policy Practice are leading three of the country case studies (Nigeria, Ghana and Bangladesh) for DFID's Governance Portfolio Review. This review assesses the impact and value for money of DFID's investment in governance and makes recommendations on improving the effectiveness and coherence of the portfolio.
Bangladesh police reform
Alex Duncan provided methodological advice to a team undertaking a study of the political economy dimensions of police reform in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh electoral assistance
The Policy Practice provided the team leader (Alex Duncan) for an assessment of international support to the electoral process in Bangladesh, specifically during the two-year period leading up to the December 2008 election. This was one of ten country studies of lessons to be learned from electoral support commissioned by DFID.
