David Wood’s career has mostly been spent as a development practitioner working in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Eastern Europe for DFID, the World Bank, UN, and as Adviser to several Governments. He worked initially on institutional development and public sector management, focussing more recently on governance, political economy, conflict and peace building. Most recently he served as UN Special Adviser on Peace and Development in Nepal (2007-8), and as DFID’s Country Representative in Bangladesh (2004 -7) and Nepal (2001-4). As DFID’s Deputy Chief Governance Adviser (1999- 2001) he produced its strategy paper on ‘Justice and Poverty Reduction.’
