Anna Khakee (Ph.D. in International Relations) is a specialist on democratisation and democracy promotion. Her consultancy has also focussed on human security and on how to reconcile democratic institutions and mechanisms with security threats. She is currently working on projects for FRIDE, a Madrid-based policy think tank and the Euro-Mediterranean Study Commission (EuroMeSCo), focussing on democracy promotion, and has previously acted as a consultant to DCAF, the UNDP, Amnesty International, UN University for Peace, and the Swedish Ministry of Justice. She has worked on projects covering Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, Nigeria and Rwanda.
