Sue Unsworth combines extensive experience as a development practitioner with an interest in making the findings of political science research accessible and relevant to policymakers. She served for 30 years with the UK's Department for International Development (DFID), most recently holding posts of Regional Director for Asia (1997-2000) and Chief Governance Adviser (2003-2004). She was one of the main initiators of DFID's "Drivers of Change" programme, including preparation of the DFID consultation paper 'Better Government for Poverty Reduction: more effective partnerships for change' published in 2003. Since 2004 she has been a Research Associate at the Institute of Development Studies, where she has worked with the Centre for the Future State.
