The Policy Practice hosted this discussion between Nurul Huda and Mirza Hassan on the political economy ofpolice reform in Bangladesh. Nurul Huda is a columnist dealing with police and security issues for the English language and Bangla press. He has recently published a book "Bangladesh Police Issues and Challenges". He joined the police in 1970 and rose to become Chief of the National Police in the years 2000 and 2001. He subsequently became Permanent Secretary in the Ministries of Youth and Sports.
Mirza Hassan is a Faculty member and Lead Researcher on governance in the BRAC University. He is a political economist by background with a PhD in development studies specialising in the demand for good governance. He is currently a consultant on the political economy of governance reform and legal empowerment.
